Weekend in Kona

Christin and I spent the weekend in Kona. Ron kept Ella for the weekend so it was a girls weekend away. Very nice, and very needed! We flew out Saturday, late morning and headed to the Volcano and lava fields. It was a very long drive but the scenery was well worth it. The entire island is black volcanic rock (duh, but it's very different from our island)and the black sand beach was beautiful.

We spent Sunday lounging by the pool all day and headed home Sunday night. Our flight was delayed a few hours so it was a long evening at the airport, but all in all, a great get-away weekend.

Diamond Head Crater

Yesterday we climbed Diamond Head, an old inactive volcano crater. It was a big climb and I had Ella on my back. I made it most of the way, almost to the top but once we reached the last lookout before the summit, Ella and I rested on a bench while Christin took Lahrissa up the last 154 steps to the top. I probably would have made it to the summit but didn't want to have shaky jell-o legs coming back down all the stairs, especially with Ella in the backpack. It was a beautiful view and while waiting for Christin and Lahrissa to come back, a lot of people turned back where I was waiting with Ella and were amazed that I climbed so far carrying Ella. Definitely a good work out.

Official First Haircut

Tonight, Christin gave Ella her first official haircut, evening out all the ends. Ella was so distracted by the comb in her hand that she wasn't even aware of the hair cutting. It was a great success and I feel she's finally got a style, not just crazy Ella hair.

We took Ella and Lahrissa to the Dole plantation near our place. We took the train, "The Pineapple Express" through the pineapple fields and walked around the gardens. We topped off the day with some pineapple ice cream... yummy!

More Girlfriends

With Erin's visit and now Christin, I don't have much time to actually post about our days. I'd much rather be doing stuff than writing about it and with all the photos you all get the gist of our days. We spent the day at Ko Olina today... beautiful!

Aloha Auntie

We are sad today. We took Erin to the airport this morning. It was a great couple of weeks visiting with Auntie, lots of beaches, shopping and sun tanning. I did however buy myself a shiny new laptop today that so far surpasses my old one, I don't know what to do with myself!
Here are some more pics Erin took. Tomorrow Auntie Christin comes for a couple of weeks and then we move into our new house. It's proving to be a very busy month! Have a safe trip home, we miss you already!

Dancing!

Ella slept over at our friend's house last night so the adults could go dancing. How much fun was that! It's been years (and I mean years!) since we've been out dancing and with Erin in town, how could we pass up a night out. Fun fun.

Fun in the Sun

This is what you get when your friend is a professional photographer.... these pics are stunning! We are so lucky that Erin doesn't mind taking Ella's photo a hundred thousand times! Here are some pics from the last few days...
