Nothing much new or even reportable today. It was up above 90 degrees so we stayed inside all day. Ron worked all weekend so it was really quiet around the house and we didn't do anything exciting. Ella's sleep pattern was totally messed up yesterday as she wouldn't nap for long and last night she woke up for her regular feeding then was up for good at 5 a.m. How happy was I this morning?!
I got this onesie for Ron at Christmas...of course it is so true! When he walks in the door from work, all has to do is say hi to his baby and Ella is all smiles even before she see him. She'll hear him talking to her as he takes off his shoes and she'll start looking around for him. We went for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner and it's still 80 something degrees. Steph and Christin I hope you are prepared for the heat (and maybe even rain as we get a lot of rain in the summer here). Two weeks today and you'll be here! I can't wait to see you guys and have you meet Ella. I am soooooo in love with her, I know you will be too!
What a gorgeous summer day! As much as I've stayed out of the sun the past couple of years, it's amazing how much I've missed having a tan. I found some great sunblock, the new stuff that sprays on...brilliant! I've been out in the sun twice this week and I haven't burnt at all and am slowly building a tan.
Ella and I went out to our neighborhood BBQ at lunchtime and it's a scorcher today. It was nice to see some of our neighbors and watch the kids play games but we only stayed out for an hour as it's too hot for Ella and she's too young for sunscreen. I have some hats for her that came with some of her outfits but they make them much too big. This one is "newborn" size but her head floats in it. She wasn't all that happy about me dressing her up at first (notice her pout...a recent thing with her) but she got used to the hat quickly.
She is a tiny baby for her age, only in the 10 percentile...but she's in the 75 percentile for her height. She's so long and lean that she's already wearing 3-6 month pj's and though they fit her length-wise, they're still too baggy. We thought about leaving her in her 0-3 month pj's and just cutting out the feet...but her clothes are so cute and in such good shape we're saving most of them for baby #2 (eventually baby #2 as it's waaayyyyyy too early to be thinking about another anytime soon).
Grandma is coming over for a visit this afternoon and Ron's working all weekend. I think the rest of the weekend is going to be a lazy one. Hope you are enjoying the blog; I really enjoy posting!
Today was a quiet, it's so freakin' hot, stay inside day. It's 85 degrees out and it's supposed to get up to 94 this weekend. I guess that's why they call it "Hotlanta". After all the sun we had yesterday, I was ready to literally chill out at the house. Ella took a marathon
nap from 10:30 until 2:30 so I played around on Shutterfly. She's napping again right now in her bouncy chair...she must be going through a growing spurt. She played this afternoon on her play gym mat. Her Grandpa got the mat for her when he was visiting in April but she was a little too young for it and it kinda freaked her out. Now she loves it and I can lay her on it for a good 30 minutes. She's trying to get the whole hand-eye co-ordination thing going but isn't often successful. She's got the part about opening her hand and grasping, she just needs to work on actually getting close to the object she is trying to reach.
She did manage a couple of times but I think it's more a fluke. She really likes the monkey... with those skinny legs, it must remind her of her father!
Today was a gorgeous day. Ella and I went to visit Leah and to see how big Eli is getting. Ella was so well-behaved and had a good nap in her stroller as we walked the trails in Peachtree City. We took this picture of Ella and Eli at the end of the afternoon and sure enough, the second the camera comes out, Ella starts freaking out. Okay, okay, I'm not being fair to her...it was time for her to eat and we were tormenting her by trying to get her to pose with her boyfriend. The funny thing about the whole picture is Ella is usually so quiet and smiley and Eli is usually a little more fussy (though I don't really think so, he's just being a normal baby). As soon as we put him on the couch next to Ella, he was in his "happy place" as Leah says and was probably wondering who stuck him next to grumpy pants! Well, here's the picture and as you can see,

Tonight we took a bath and she loves the tub. I wash her hair under the tap and she is all smiles. Yup, definitely going to be a girlie girl...she loves getting her hair done already. I love these cute baby bath towels!
I finally decided to get on and post. Amy has such a great way to reminisce and look back on all Nolan's day to day activities, that I decided to start blogging too.
I hope you all enjoy the photos and commentary. I think it's a great way to "experience" Ella growing up even though everyone is so far away.
Ella is down for the night, she's such a good baby! Every night at 8:30 she's fed and out for the next 5 hours. I only get up once with her for a feeding and it's right back to sleep. My only complaint (which isn't at all a complaint) is she is an early riser like her Daddy...up at 7am. I know I am very lucky with her schedule and her temperment. I took this picture today as we were talking...she loves her change table and will giggle up a storm when I change her outfits. Ooh, I hope this means she'll be a girlie girl and love dresses and bows and sugar and spice and all things nice! Though don't let her Daddy or uncles hear me say that...they'll have her out playing football as soon as she can walk!
