Picture Updates

The pool at the Sheraton Waikiki:Dinner with her boyfriend Emmi:Dinner with the girls:

Another Update

Ron, Ella and I enjoyed a fabulous 5 days in Waikiki in a nice hotel with spectacular views and an awesome pool. Well, at least Ella and I did. Ron has spent the entire week checking out, attending appointments, getting paperwork signed, etc. We have been very sad to be transitioning and leaving Hawaii, and though we've been trying to find a way to stay, this was not how we envisioned it.

Ron missed a final appointment on Friday morning and spent the entire day trying to get it done so he can be officially released from the military. It didn't happen so we had them cancel our tickets until the paperwork can be completed. We are staying near the airport and Ron will try to get this appointment Monday or Tuesday, so we can fly out within a day or two after.

We hope to fly out by Wednesday but it could be as late as the first or second week of October... gotta love the military and all it's red tape! Good news is that we didn't ship our car on Friday either so we'll be able to enjoy this wonderful island for a little bit longer... and that is definitely a good thing!

Ella's Logic

At Safiyyah's birthday party and totally unrelated to the birthday, Ella won a bag of popcorn from the lifeguard. The pool has a trivia question during it's 10 minute water breaks and as Ella and I were walking back from the bathroom, the lifeguard asked Ella if she wanted to win some popcorn...

"Pretend you're eating an ice cream cone."
Her and Ella start to pretend...
"Now pretend it's really hot and the ice cream is melting, melting all over your hands..."
"Which way does the ice cream drip?"

To which Ella responds, "In the napkin."

Love it...see the pic below where her, Safiyyah and Lucy are sharing the said popcorn. That's my girl!

Let the Vacation Begin

Sunday we were at Safiyyah's birthday at the pool...Monday we finally cleared housing and it was so sad to say goodbye...until we checked into the hotel; we have ocean front view from the 24th floor - Nice! Click on the last picture to see the turtle... we can see them, lots of them from out balcony
Today, we went down to the pool and Ella joined a hula class for the last few minutes. Then we walked over to the the Hale Koa to meet the girls for the afternoon - I am loving this vacation thing!!

Pool

We spent the afternoon at the pool with friends. Ella spent 99% of the time jumping in and swimming back and forth a good 10 feet. She wanted no assistance and if I tried to help she would say, "I can do it. I need practice!"

News Update

It has been a confusing couple of months in terms of what our future looks like and we are still in limbo though we have some immediate plans figured out. Ron is separating from the Navy which means he will not be taking orders to the ship out of Pearl Harbor in the fall. Sadly, despite some effort to secure work here, we will be leaving the island on the 26th. Sigh - we are so sad to be leaving such a beautiful place.

We are packing our house this Friday and shipping our stuff to Atlanta with plans to U-Haul it to where ever we might end up. We fly into Atlanta on the 27th and will be staying at Ron's parent's house while Ron looks for work in the IT field. Colorado seems to be our place of choice with lots of companies and job opportunities, but there are dozens of other possibilities too so we'll have to keep you posted on the career move.

Ella is excited to stay in a hotel in Waikiki for a few days, and we'll be soaking up as much of this brilliant Hawaiian sun, sand and surf as we can. She can't wait to stay with Grandma and Grandad and wants to "go to the beach with Grandma". She doesn't quite know what to make of a place that has no beach :) She is however, over the moon with the idea that our new house may have snow during the winter, and is excited to have her first coat and pair of boots (already ordered and waiting at Grandma's house) !

The house is in total disarray; organizing is taking up most of my time so our posts may be sporadic. Living out of suitcases and in limbo is annoying at best, but we're excited for the change and the new adventure. Keep your fingers crossed that we get settled into a new life soon!! :)

Water Park

Today was our last day at the water park with our summer passes. We met up with our friends from gymnastics, Crystal and Jenesis. Ella was so excited to see Jenesis after being out of gymnastics for so long. I think she's adorable and always threaten Crystal that I'm going to stick her in my pocket and take her home with me... she's that cute! Jenesis even named her turtle, Ella, and continues to tell Crystal everyday, "I want to go play at Ella's house" :)

Here are the two BFF's:And some more water park pics:
