Change is in the Air

San Antonio Skyline...
We have been in Georgia for about a month now but have begun a transition to our new home... San Antonio. Ron accepted a job and we took him to the airport tonight. He's going to start tomorrow and spend the next 10 days or so getting settled and finding a house. We've been looking at rental properties online and have narrowed down a few options that he'll scope out for us. He flies back on the 13th and then the 3 of us are U-Hauling everything to Texas.

In the meantime, Ella and I are going to relax and enjoy the last couple weeks at Grandma and Granddad's.

I have to admit, Texas isn't anywhere I thought I'd live and therefore have little idea about it. We're all excited about the new adventure and chapter in our life... Texas! Who would have thought?!!

My idea of Texas ... I'm looking forward to actually seeing what's it's all about and forming an opinion not based on what I've seen on TV...not to mention getting my first pair of cowboy boots :)

Holloween

Ella and I drove down to Peachtree City to trick-or-treat. It was wet and drizzly but that didn't stop Ella from skipping down the street. I love Halloween but being one of only a few in the street made me miss Hawaii and all our friends...

Helen, GA

We drove up to North Georgia today to enjoy the fall colors. It was misty and overcast and by lunch it had begun raining. We hiked to Anna Ruby Falls and had lunch on the Chattahoochee. Helen, Georgia is a quaint little country town... Bavarian style! It's a little replica of a German country town complete with lots of German food but the weather kept us inside for lunch before heading to see a little covered bridge, stop at a country store, and head home. (The picture of Helen is from the website...too rainy for us to walk around but this picture gives you the gist)

First Library Card

For lack of anything else to do in the vicinity, we've been going to the library a lot. Ella loves reading and so it's been great for her. Today, we got her first library card and she was so proud to check out her books herself.

Quick Week

Last week, Ella and I headed down to Peachtree City to visit with Leah, Eli and Keira. Ella and Eli were born just a month or so apart (Leah and I met in prenatal water aerobics) and it's so fun to see how big they've both gotten.

I've been struggling with things to do with Ella here as there aren't any playgrounds or activities in the vicinity. Peachtree City is about 45 minutes away but the drive is worth all the playgrounds, walking trails, and kid friendly activities like Jump2It, and indoor bounce house mecca with half a dozen giant bounce houses. Ella of course loved it and as usual is quite the little dare devil.
Today we attempted to head back there, but the downpour kept us close to home. We headed to the SchoolBox, a teachers supply store where I got Ella some phonics activities and we did some puzzles. Then it was off to Moe's for lunch and back home to carve pumpkins.

Ella Request

I must premise this with, no, I am NOT pregnant so this conversation was way out of left field. Yesterday morning at breakfast while telling Ella about all the things we're going to have at our new house:

Daddy: "...and a table, our toys, our beds...."

Ella: "And a baby?"

(enter Mommy) Daddy laughing: "She said she wants a baby at the next house."

Mommy: "You want a baby brother or sister?"

Ella: "Yes. A brown one." :)

GA Drivers

Last week, while stopped at a red light, we were rear ended by a minivan. There wasn't any damage but Ella declared, "Mommy, we got bumped!"

Tonight we went for dinner with Uncle Joey & Grandma. In the parking lot and while I was installing Ella's car seat into the car, a guy backing out of his parking spot, backed right into the bumper and left a significant dent. "Oh no! Grandma, we got bumped again!" Ella was fascinated by the police car so I got this pic... he even put on his lights and siren for a second for her.

What's up with your drivers Georgia????
