Fiesta
San Antonio is in the middle of Fiesta, an annual spring festival that began as a single event to honor the memory of the battles of The Alamo and San Jacinto. This Friday is Battle of the Flowers, a day off school and a big parade downtown. The city is decked out in bright colors and flowers are everywhere. The kids decorated shoeboxes at home and prepared for their own parade. Ella's is a ballerina fairy garden theme. When the magic ballerina dances, the flowers grow. Gosh, I love having a girl! :)

Easter
We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We certainly did! The Easter Bunny came and Ella woke up to look for eggs around the house. After breakfast she headed out to the backyard to discover that the Easter Bunny made a stop in the back yard as well! Spoiled rotten this little girl!
At lunchtime, we headed over to our friends, Marisa & Daniel for an Easter BBQ. The kids had another egg hunt put on by us and then cracked cascarones (confetti-filled eggs) over each other's heads. We even got in on the Mexican tradition and have the confetti aftermath to show it....

First Field Trip
Ella had her first field trip and her first school bus ride last week. The kindergarten classes headed to the San Antonio zoo and I was one of the chaperones. Ella got to pick her two classmates to join her and both were boys.... Dylan and Hildebrand. Ron is not too excited about that but both boys were super sweet and well behaved. The three of them got along so well and according to Ms. Delgadillo, they are quite the little 3 peas in a pod in class too. Yup, Ron still not happy about that! hahahaha....
Dylan is deathly allergic to peanuts and what did the rest of us have for lunch? Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Oi! Their teacher gave me Dylan's medical emergency kit complete with an epi pen... first order of business? Learn how to use the epi pen if I need to!
The kids had a blast. Two and a half hours of running around and exploring. Ella couldn't stop talking about the bus ride. In fact, most of the kids were more excited to ride a school bus for the first time, than the actual field trip itself. They could have drove the kids around the outer loop a couple of times and saved a lot of money :)
